On the 7th of February 2007, the celebration for the opening of the Finnish office of ESCOOP has been held in Kemi.

During the last ESCOOP Board of Directors’ Meeting, held in Helsinki on the 24th of November 2006, the admission of the following new members has been approved:

1. Savoir et Compétence from Strasbourg, FRANCE,
2. “Κοινωνική Αλληλεγγύη” (Social Solidarity), from Trikala – GREECE,
3. Volkshochschule Hannover – from Hanover, GERMANY,

bringing to 15 the present members of ESCOOP.

On the 24th of November, 2006, the European Social Cooperative ESCOOP will be presented in Helsinki at the Finnish Ministry of Labour to the representative of the Finnish ministries of Labour and Justice, as well as to representatives from the Italian and Spanish Embassy.

Several articles have been published on the internet about the foundation of ESCOOP:

• A first SCE has been established as a European Social Cooperative, from the International Organisation of Industrial, Artisanal and Service Producers’ Co-operatives (CICOPA). Also available in French and Spanish
• Puglia: nasce a Mola “Escoop”, la prima cooperativa sociale europea (in Italian), from the website of the Italian League of Cooperatives (Legacoop).
• Escoop, cooperativa sociale europea (in Italian), from the magazine “FAX”
• Nascono le “cooperative europee”. Article from the daily newspaper LA GAZZETTA DEL MEZZOGIORNO about the foundation of the ESCOOP and the applicable legislation (in Italian).
